The Lobi live in a region of West Africa at the junction of three countries; Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.
The Bateba are statuettes that the LOBI generally installed on the altars to fight against witchcraft, evil spells and disease, and to bring wealth, fertility, marriage, strength and happiness to the one who holds them on his altar.
The form and attitude conferred on a Bateba by a sculptor, in accordance with the revelations transmitted by the seers, expresses the role that this Bateba plays and the type of protection that it brings to its owner.
